The Safety Path Hyperion Hybrid Jumbo LED Exit Sign is a 40m LED blade exit sign. It ingeniously replaces failure-prone electric-batteries with Smarterlite Technology so that the Hyperion Hybrid Exit Sign reliably works whenever the power goes out. It has the lowest energy consumption of any powered Environmental Exit Sign on the market. It is battery-free technology that reduces your power consumption, emissions and eWaste.
The Smarterlite Hyperion Hybrid Exit Sign is a modern low-voltage blade design, with fully interchangeable pictorials. Its integrated low-power LED illuminates the face of the sign, as required by the National Construction Code (2022), enabling you to achieve:
- reduced electricity consumption
- reduced emissions from reduced power use – vital for your emissions reporting
- reduced eWaste by using Exit Sign technology that doesn’t incorporate an old-style electric-battery
- improved reliability – electric-batteries are the most unreliable component in AS2293 electric-battery exit signs, so we eliminated them
- reduced maintenance costs from reduced failures
- safer people in your buildings, from using more reliable technology with a 16-year Service Life.
The Hyperion Hybrid Exit Sign has a 16-year Service Life.
The Hyperion can be used as a direct replacement for old style electric-battery exit signs – simply ask your electrician to replace your failed electric-battery exit signs with Smarterlite’s Hyperion Hybrid Exit Sign. Exit Signs must always be installed in accordance with NCC (2022) and applicable local regulations.
The Hyperion is ideal for large spaces such as industrial and commercial warehouses, big box retail, car parks, stadiums, farm sheds and permanent and temporary event facilities – in fact, anywhere that you need a modern looking, energy saving, reliable Exit Sign.

Specification E4.8 includes a requirement that photoluminescent exit signs are maintained in a continuously charged state by a minimum illumination of 100 lux at the face of the sign. The in-built LED provides 100 lux to the face of the exit sign.
The Building Code of Australia’s Specification E4.8 includes a requirement that photoluminescent exit signs are maintained in a continuously charged state by a minimum illumination of 100 lux at the face of the sign.
The low-powered high-efficiency LED in the Safety Path hybrid exit sign illuminates the sign with a minimum of 100 lux. Should there be a power failure, the photoluminescent component of the exit sign will emit its own light.
There’s no need for a connection to an emergency power supply or battery, so this sign has a lower installation cost and lower ongoing environmental impact than a standard electric exit sign.
The power consumption of our LED / PL hybrids ranges from 1.4W to 5.9W. Example applications of our LED / PL hybrid exit sign are in low-light environments such as store rooms, service tunnels and buildings that have sensor lights in infrequently or inconsistently used areas.
The Building Code of Australia requires a photoluminescent exit sign to provide a minimum luminance of 30 mcd/m2 for not less than 90 minutes.
Our Showcase pages provide case studies of the major corporations choosing Safety Path signs over electric-battery exit signs to achieve environmental and cost savings.
Australia’s performance requirements for photoluminescent exit signs are significantly higher than in other countries. Safety Path’s photoluminescent exit signs exceed Australia’s tough requirements.
The USA requires more than 5 mcd/m2 for 90 minutes after an input of 10.8 lux for one hour.
The European Union requires more than 2.8 mcd/m2 for 60 minutes after an input of 1,000 lux for five minutes.
Our hybrid LED/photoluminescent exit signs consume much less electricity than many electric exit signs, and as a consequence, have very low emissions. The specifications for each hybrid sign includes its consumption.
